Castle Craig Hospital 20th Anniversary Reunion

On Sunday 29th June 2008, over 500 former patients and family members returned to Castle Craig to celebrate the 20th anniversary reunion. Peter McCann, Castle Craig Chairman, welcomed the guests and updated them on the latest developments at the hospital. He also took the opportunity to thank the staff of Castle Craig for all their hard work and the wonderful results achieved over the year.

Guest speakers Dr. Peter Geerlings, Consultant Psychiatrist, Castle Craig Netherlands and Dr. Geert Dom, Head of Addiction, Psychiatric Centre Alexian Brothers, Belgium delivered a fascinating educational talk entitled ‘Addiction: How to change the brain’. After a barbeque lunch Simon Jenkins, International Coordinator of Narcotics Anonymous and six of our former patients shared their inspirational experiences of recovery with attendees.

Finally the guests were invited to walk around the grounds and see for themselves the latest facilities and services provided at the hospital.

Each year the Castle Craig reunion provides a wonderful opportunity for former patients to meet with old friends and staff members and to listen to inspirational speeches and educational talks. The next reunion is scheduled to take place at the end of June 2009.
