We are proud of our close ties with Northern Ireland. Our Medical Director, Dr Margaret McCann, was born and raised in Northern Ireland and worked in Belfast hospitals before deciding to specialise in addiction treatment. If you are from Northern Ireland, you can apply for NHS funding for inpatient treatment at Castle Craig. We also admit private patients from the Republic of Ireland.
Castle Craig is located just 45 minutes by car from Edinburgh International Airport & is also easily accessible from Glasgow airports. Flights arrive several times a day from Belfast with Easyjet and Flybe. We can provide onward transport for patients arriving from Northern Ireland to these airports.
We suggest that you contact your GP or local ‘Drug and Alcohol Coordination Team’ to request a referral to Castle Craig from Northern Ireland. Your GP may contact your local Health Board on your behalf.
Call our Admissions Manager for more information and personal advice.
We can admit patients who wish to pay privately within 24 hours, and we are a preferred provider of addiction treatment for major healthcare insurers such as BUPA and AXA PPP. If you wish to receive more information on these funding options please visit these pages for more information.
Once you have been referred, our Consultant Psychiatrist will carry out a pre-admission assessment to form your personalised treatment plan.
We will send you an admission information pack with details of the treatment programme and daily life at Castle Craig.
