Exercise and Fitness

Exercise is an integral and important component of the treatment programme at Castle Craig. We know that a healthy body helps to build a healthy mind.
All patients have a minimum of three physical activity sessions per week, as part of their treatment program. A well-equipped gym is available to all patients and contains:

An accredited fitness trainer is always present during gym sessions.

Aerobics classes, circuit training, and yoga classes are also held in the gym. Our yoga classes, conducted by our qualified yoga instructor Joanne, are extremely popular and we currently run both single-sex and mixed-sex sessions.

Gym

We provide a variety of outdoor activities including walking, football and volleyball, and we bring patients to the local swimming pool, so that there is something available to suit everybody.

Personalised exercise programmes are provided for those who require a more specific regime for their individual needs.

Physiotherapy

One-to-one physiotherapy is available for patients who require special attention to maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability. Our qualified physiotherapist, Niall, will conduct a thorough assessment of the individual and devise a suitable treatment program to address their problems. He has daily contact with each patient so that he can carefully monitor their progress and achieve the rehabilitation of their body.
