Senior citizen drinking wineElderly people should reduce their drinking from 4 units a day, which is the current recommendation for adults, to just 1.5 units (the equivalent of half a pint of beer).

29th June 2011: Prime Minister David Cameron answered a question from Dr Julian Huppert, Liberal Democrat MP for Cambridge, on the UK's failed drugs policy.

David Cameron stated "we have spent too much time on heroin replacement and methadone rather than on trying to get people clean and clear up all the things in their lives that perhaps cause them to take drugs in the first place."

Most people in Scotland were aware of The Scheme, a BBC Scotland documentary series which followed the “emotional highs and lows of six different families all living in one large housing scheme in Kilmarnock.”

After The Scheme was aired BBC Scotland hosted a debate to focus on the social issues raised. Naomi Tomlinson, a participant, described her addiction in calm but horrendous detail.
