Exceptional, Bespoke Therapy for Addiction

Castle Craig Hospital is a landmark of addiction and mental health treatment in Scotland, serving the UK, the EU, and patients from all over the world.

Our commitment to long-term abstinence has created a successful program of clinical and complementary therapies for mind, body, and spirit.

Serving over 10,000 patients for more than 30 years, the Castle Craig model is proven to change lives. Our team of addiction experts works together to integrate appropriate therapies into personalised treatment programmes that address each patient’s unique needs.

We offer a wide variety of therapies that we tailor into a personalised treatment programme that suits the needs of each individual.

Many of our therapists have personal experience of recovery and we assign a focal therapist to each patient who conducts individual psychotherapy. We treat both primary addiction issues and secondary mental health problems. These are often referred to as dual diagnoses.

Therapy Formats

Group Therapy

Group therapy enhances self-awareness and insight through the shared experiences and openness of other group members. This begins a journey for patients which, with the additional insights from the group, enables them to deepen their understanding of their addiction.

We also offer a number of specialised group therapies that are directed towards specific goals, such as eating disorder therapy, women’s group therapy, relapse prevention group, relationship therapy and cross-addiction

Trauma Therapy

Trauma Therapy is a type of mental health treatment that counsellors use to help people overcome psychological trauma. At Castle Craig, we understand that trauma therapy is not one specific type of treatment. A variety of therapies can be used alone or in conjunction with one another to help you deal with the trauma and move on with your life.

At Castle Craig, we offer specialist therapies which have been shown to help with trauma:

Complementary / Holistic Therapy

Patients will also have access to a variety of complementary and holistic therapies, depending on availability and referral by either medical or therapeutic staff.

The aim of using complementary therapies is to optimise the mental, physical and spiritual health of our patients so that they can continue their lives without the need for mood-altering drugs or behaviours. Holistic experiences available at Castle Craig include:

Participation in complementary therapies is arranged as part of treatment planning and incorporated into the patient’s personalised care plan on the advice of our Consultant Psychiatrist and therapy team. Find out more.
