Annual Reunion 2024

Annual Reunion

Each year Castle Craig holds a reunion for alumni to celebrate their recovery together.

Recovery is Better Together

Every summer for the last three decades, Castle Craig has organised a reunion for our friends and alumni who are in recovery from alcohol or drug addiction.

Keep the date free: Sunday 30th June 2024

As you might already know, here at Castle Craig we do things together. We know the best chance at long-lasting recovery starts and ends with peer and group support of like-minded individuals relating their similar experiences and feelings. Come back and be a part of that.

Celebrate Your Recovery at Castle Craig

This event is for Castle Craig alumni as well as long-standing friends and staff at Castle Craig.

  • Sunday 30th June 2024
  • 10 am – 4 pm BST
  • This is a free event for former patients of Castle Craig and staff.

Guest Speaker

This year our guest speaker is Colleen Kelly, Ph.D., MFT, a psychotherapist, executive coach, start-up founder, writer, and clinical outreach consultant based in Paris, France. Colleen has been a friend of Castle Craig for many years since she came to Europe from the US and some of our alumni will recall her engaging workshops on recovery.

“As a therapist and coach, I take an active approach to getting you to a place of optimal wellness and functioning. By utilizing a range of evidence-based modalities, we can reveal the true potential of joy, fulfillment, and forward movement in your life and career.

I specialize in high-conflict relationships and addiction issues. For over 26 years, I have worked in the substance abuse and mental health field in various clinical settings, holding executive positions in renowned treatment centers.” Colleen Kelly

Information for the Day

Dear Attendee,

With the 2024 Castle Craig Reunion coming up soon on Sunday the 30th of June, we wanted to get in touch to let you know a few practical things ahead of the event.

  • The registration desk opens at 10.00 am and continues throughout the morning and there will be tea and coffee served in the morning.
  • We have over 200 people due to join us for the reunion and therefore it will be very busy. Please ensure that you allow sufficient time to park, walk to the front door of Castle Craig to register.

  • Given the large number of people due to attend, we reserve onsite parking for blue badge holders as close to the Castle as possible. Additional parking is available a short distance away (100 meters) however if you have any queries or concerns, please email Niamh Elliott.
  • If you know you will require wheelchair access please email Niamh Elliott and we will ensure access is provided.

  • Guests are invited to take their seats in the marquee by 11:30 am.
  • Dominic McCann, CEO of Castle Craig, will begin his speech at 11:30 am.
  • The main speaker, Dr Colleen Kelly, begins the main speech at 12.
  • Lunch follows at 1pm with live music.
  • In the afternoon there will be a number of inspiring shares from people in recovery.

Refreshments and Food

  • Refreshments are served on arrival and in the afternoon.
  • The menu for lunch can be found on the reunion webpage. Our menu includes a hog roast, sea bass, and a variety of salads. Dessert includes Scottish strawberries and mini-baked cakes. Food is nut-free, with gluten-free options available. The food provided may contain other allergens.

Bathroom Facilities

  • This year we are providing temporary toilet facilities outside the building in addition to the downstairs toilets inside the main building. Inside the side entrance is a disabled bathroom.

Bedroom Areas

  • We ask guests to respect the privacy of our patients and refrain from visiting upstairs areas of the Castle.

  • You are very welcome to bring your children and we provide a children’s tent with activities and a face painter. Please ensure that children are supervised at all times.

  • Please smoke only in the designated smoking areas.
  • We do not allow vapes at Castle Craig.

While we are crossing our fingers for sunshine, the Scottish weather can be temperamental. Please bring an umbrella just in case.

The Recovery Shop will give you a chance to purchase some Castle Craig memorabilia and other items.

Guide dogs and certified assistance dogs are welcome. Unfortunately guests are not allowed to bring pet dogs onsite. There are a couple of small dogs who live on the estate but this is all we are able to accommodate.

Do respect the privacy of our patients and avoid photographs where other people are identifiable in the background.

We would love to see any group photographs you take and share them on our social media account, we would just need to know that approval of all subjects in the photograph is given.

Lost and Found

Any lost items will be brought to the front desk where you can retrieve them. If you realise you have lost something after you have left Castle Craig then we will do our best to find it, however it will need to be collected in person.
