Craig Chalmers

Craig Chalmers is a therapist with specialist training in addiction and co-occurring trauma. He holds a membership with the BACP and a diploma in counselling and psychotherapy with PERSONA, and has completed further training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed practice, and mindfulness interventions.

With a strong foundation in evidence-based treatment, Craig works closely with patients to build therapeutic relationships based on trust, consistency, and respect. He is highly experienced in delivering the 12 Step programme and its practical application within structured treatment.

He has particular experience supporting men who have experienced early-life trauma, and regularly facilitates the Castle Craig weekly men’s group. He works with sensitivity and discretion to help individuals navigate these complex issues as part of their wider recovery journey.

Craig is known for his calm and grounded nature. Using a person-centred approach, he ensures that patients feel safe, understood, and supported throughout treatment. He is committed to promoting recovery through clear goals, structured interventions, and collaborative engagement with our multidisciplinary team. Patient feedback indicates that they highly value the therapeutic relationship offered by Craig.

Outside of his clinical role, Craig maintains a strong interest in physical activity and enjoys playing competitive golf. These pursuits support his own wellbeing and reflect the value he places on routine and discipline, qualities that often strengthen therapeutic work.
