Different Personality Disorders

Personality disorders can occur in conjunction with mental health disorders, like mood disorders, or with substance use disorders, such as drug addiction.

Being indifferent to social relationships and have a limited range of emotional expression. Their social and emotional detachments prevent them from being close to anyone. This can either be the start of schizophrenia or a mild form of it.

Schizotypal Personality Disorder:

Having disturbed thoughts and behavior, unusual beliefs and fears, and a lack of forming and keeping relationships. They tend to experience distorted thinking, behave oddly, and avoid intimacy. Their beliefs can seem stranger than their behavior such as in aliens, witchcraft, having a sixth sense, etc.

Antisocial Personality Disorder:

People who disregard and violate the rights of others around them. They put themselves in dangerous situations without thinking of the consequences of themselves or others. Their manipulation makes it hard to tell if they are lying or telling the truth.

Borderline Personality Disorder:

Unstable mood where it is difficult to have relationships, self-harm and have suicidal thoughts. They have trouble regulating their emotions which can involve frequent changes in long-term goals, career, jobs, relationships, identity, and beliefs.

Histrionic Personality Disorder:

Constantly seeking attention and having emotional overreactions. They tend to overdramatize situations which can ruin relationships and lead to depression. When they are not the center of attention, they feel uncomfortable and unappreciated.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder:

Not able to emphasize with others and feel self-important. They lack empathy with others and need to feel admired. They believe they are more superior than others and cannot tolerate any criticisms or will feel empty.

Avoidant Personality Disorder:

Have extreme shyness or a fear of rejection, making it difficult to interact with anyone. They avoid work activities or decline a job in fear of being rejected and will only form relationships if they are sure to be accepted.

Dependent Personality Disorder:

Being over reliant of other people to meet their emotional and physical needs. They feel the need of always being taken care of which leads to clingy and submissive behaviors as well as fear of separation and not being able to make their own decisions.

Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder:

Keeping everything under control or fear of catastrophic event happening as a result. They have a tendency to hang onto items with no significant values and set high unrealistic standards for themselves.
