Visit Castle Craig at iCCAD
Castle Craig will once again be attending and sponsoring the 2018 iCAAD (International Conferences on Addiction and Associated Disorders) in London.
Spanning over three days from May 7th through May 9th, the conference will be held at the Royal Garden Hotel on Kensington High Street.
During the three day event, attendees will have the chance to meet over a thousand professionals and listen to over 60 speakers. The conference is an excellent opportunity to update and educate oneself about the industry. Attendees will also have a chance to network with others working in the addiction and treatment field.

Make sure not to miss a presentation by Castle Craig Hospital’s Medical Director, Professor Jonathan Chick, which will be hosted in the York Suite on Tuesday at 4PM. He will discuss the use of the 12-step treatment in UK’s health and social centres.
According to Professor Jonathan Chick, only 9% of recently surveyed treatment workers in the addiction field utilise the 12-step technique with addicted individuals. Those professionals also report that they recommend the 12-step programs to only a third of their patients. It is evident that today, mutual-aid groups, such as AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) or NA (Narcotics Anonymous) are not widely recommended within UK Health Centres. There is talk among professionals about the 12-step model’s relevance in modern times, due to its spiritual associations and other stigmas.
In his presentation, Professor Chick will be dissecting some of the myths surrounding the 12-step process and talking about the future of the Minnesota model.
Professor Jonathan Chick is a distinguished consultant psychiatrist who has built his career working for the NHS. He has an extensive resume of researching and writing for many professional and peer-reviewed journals, and is the author of Understanding Alcohol and Drinking Problems. Currently, he is also a chief editor of Alcohol and Alcoholism. In addition, he is associated with the General Services Office of Alcoholics Anonymous in the UK and the Society Francaise d’Alcoologie in France.
