Gordon Hogg
Head Therapist

Gordon joined Castle Craig in 1993
and currently holds the position of Head Therapist.
He has also played a leading role in developing the Castle Craig programme.
As well as being affiliated to COSCA
(former board member) Gordon is on the board of the UK Professional
Board of Alcohol/Drug Counsellors.
Gordon graduated from Leith Nautical College and
was previously an officer in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary with the Ministry
of Defence.

Tom Bruce
Senior Therapist

Tom joined Castle Craig in 1997 and
has held the position of Senior Therapist since 2001.
Tom has over 20 years experience in the field of
addictions.
Tom's work in the field of addictions began at Riverside
Regional Medical Centre in Virginia, United States in 1984. In conjunction
with this he was employed as Programme Coordinator for the U.S.
Army Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Programme
at Fort Story, Virginia. Tom relocated to Scotland in 1996.

Glynis Read
Head of Training

Glynis is the Head of Training
at Castle Craig and currently oversees the care of patients with eating
disorders. She developed the Certificate in Addiction Studies
and the Diploma in Addiction Counselling (both credit rated by Napier
University), which she now runs for Castle Craig. While working at
Castle Craig, Glynis gained a MSc in CBT and eating disorders
and also holds a qualification in eye movement desensitisation
and reprocessing (EMDR).
Before joining Castle Craig as a therapist Glynis gained a PhD in
Quaternary Science and qualified as an addictions counsellor at Hazelden,
Minnesota.

Kevin Dodds
Extended Care Unit Manager

Kevin has worked in the field of addictions
therapy, at Castle Craig, since 1992. He currently holds the position of Extended
Care Unit Manager and has been integral to the extensive
planning and development that has
taken place in the hospital’s Extended Care Unit in recent years.
While working at Castle Craig, Kevin gained a Post Graduate Diploma
in Counselling and Supervision from Glasgow Caledonian
University and a certification in addictions counselling validated
by IC&RC.

Dr. Ian Jones
Senior Therapist / Clinical Standards Adviser

Ian is a Senior Therapist and
Clinical Standards Advisor at Castle Craig.
He joined Castle Craig in 1995 as a trainee therapist, and progressed
to become a Senior Therapist and Deputy Manager in
Castle Craig’s Extended Care facility. He is currently employed
as our Clinical Standards Advisor.
Ian studied dentistry at Edinburgh University and
went on to work in general dental practice for 20 years. Looking for
a new challenge he decided to move into counselling at Castle Craig.

Aureol Gillan

Aureol has been at Castle Craig since
1998 and is currently a Senior Therapist and a Team
Leader in the Castle Craig Extended Care Unit.
Aureol has had a lifelong interest in horses, and facilitates our
Equine Therapy sessions.

Richard Scanlan

Richard has trained and worked at Castle
Craig Hospital since 2003 and is currently a Senior Therapist
and a Team Leader in the Castle Craig Extended Care
Unit. He holds qualifications in EMDR and dialectical
behaviour therapy (DBT) and has a specialised interest in
trauma and its relationship with addictive behaviour.
Richard gained a BA (Hons) from the University of Brighton and completed
a post graduate diploma in Addictive Behaviour at St George’s
Medical School, London

Murray Allan
Therapist

Following his experiences as a patient
in the Castle Craig treatment programme, Murray Allan undertook training
as a counsellor and joined Castle Craig as a therapist in 1993.
He has since continued training as a counsellor in addictions at
Castle Craig, is an oral examiner for ICADC and is
a certified reality therapy practitioner. Murray
is also a specialist therapist in grief work.
Murray formerly worked as a freelance and commercial photographer
for 25 years.

Christopher Burn
Therapist

Chris joined Castle Craig in 1988 as
Financial Director and retrained as a therapist in
1994.
Chris formerly trained and worked as a Chartered Accountant in London,
Paris and Malta before returning to London to work in the City with
bankers Hill Samuel. He has also spent time owning and running a small
hotel in the Scottish Borders.

Audrey Grant

Audrey has worked in the field of addiction
since 1993 and has been a therapist at Castle Craig since 2000. She
has a special interest in female patients, particularly
in the areas of trauma and eating disorders.
Audrey has gained a BA degree in Youth and Community Studies.

Craig Logan
Therapist

Craig joined Castle Craig as a trainee
therapist in 1999 and was taken on as a full-time therapist in 2001.
He has experience in both primary and extended
care.
While working at Castle Craig, Craig has become an accredited COSCA
Practitioner Member and gained IC&RC qualifications. Craig is
also a qualified Reality Therapy practitioner.
Since 2001 Craig has facilitated Castle Craig’s Aftercare
Group and Relapse Prevention Group.

Karolina Czepil
Therapist

Karolina has worked at Castle Craig
since 2005, achieving her diploma in addiction counselling
while working here.
Prior to this Karolina worked for a year as a junior psychologist
in a Diagnostic Counselling Centre for Children and Adolescents.
She provided children and families with short-term counselling. She
also undertook a four-month placement in a therapeutic community-based
treatment centre for drug and alcohol addiction in Italy.
Karolina graduated in 2004 from Wroclaw University, Poland, with
a MA in Psychology. Her degree specialised in clinical
psychology with a special interest in psychotherapy,
addiction and trauma.

Philip Grant
Therapist

Philip has trained and worked at Castle
Craig since 1998, where he now holds his present position as Specialist
Therapist.
Philip studied for two years to gain a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling
and Supervision from the Kinharvie Institute of Facilitation. He is
particularly interested in Inner Child Therapy and leads the facilitation
of group therapy for the Adult Children Of Alcoholics
group.
Philip leads the Therapeutic Drumming Circle at
Castle Craig, and studied drum circle facilitation techniques at the
Arthur Hull training course in London.

Jack McDonald

Trained as a Gestalt psychotherapist,
Jack has a background in social work and education.
This background has provided him with extensive experience of working
with children and families in crisis and community mental
health.
Jack’s background in education has given him a special understanding
of young people, including those with special needs
and the autistic spectrum.
Jack has gained a MA, Dip. In Gestalt Psychotherapy, a COSCA Certificate
in Counselling Supervision, a Diploma in Social Work and a Certificate
in Primary Education.

Linda Hill

Linda Hill, our Post-Traumatic
Stress Disorder Specialist, is a Senior Accredited Member
of BACP and an EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant.
She has considerable experience of working with post-traumatic
stress disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD both within the NHS
and in private practice.
Linda previously worked at the Sandyford Initiative in Glasgow with
women who had been sexually assaulted
or had experienced childhood abuse.
Prior to that she worked at the Yorkhill Family Bereavement Centre
with people affected by the death of a child.

Marie, our Administrator, is a long-standing
staff member at Castle Craig
Marie is manager of patient admissions and medical personnel. Her
extensive experience in this role means that, operating as a first
point of contact, she can advise prospective patients, families and
also professionals on questions about admissions arrangements.

Our Catering Team
Catering Manager: Davina McMorran (far right)

Davina has catered for the patients and staff of
Castle Craig since 2003. She previously completed a number of City
and Guilds training courses in catering at Telford College, Edinburgh
and is also qualified in cake decorating and confectionary. She is
trained in, and has experience of cooking quality meals for large
numbers of people.
The catering team know how important nutritious, fresh food is for
the patients at Castle Craig. Davina plans all the menus to include
wholesome, nutritious ingredients, and fresh fruit and vegetables
are delivered daily to Castle Craig. Variety is also a key factor
in the patients’ enjoyment of food and Davina and the team aim
to introduce patients to many new dishes during their stay. All dishes
are prepared to the highest standard onsite, including all our cakes
and desserts.
Our new kitchens were built in 2007 and provide the catering staff
with the latest cooking technologies. All hygiene and cleaning standards
are thoroughly adhered to.
