Family Healing: Family Recovery Workshop
We know how crucial family support is for people affected by addiction. So, to help your family members provide the ongoing support required for recovery, we invite all of our patients’ families to attend a weekend recovery workshop.
Held online, these two-day workshops enable family members to meet and share their experiences of addiction with other families. Over the course of the weekend, our families learn more about addiction, and develop tools and knowledge to support their loved ones after they leave residential treatment.
These recovery workshops are a fundamental part of the Castle Craig treatment programme, and we strongly advise all family members with a relative in treatment to attend.
The workshops are open to family members and significant others over the age of 18, as well as to interested members of the public, even if the person they are supporting is not currently a patient with us.
What Happens in a Family Recovery Workshop?
The workshops are run by our highly experienced lead family therapist, Teri Lyn Fairnie, and cover:
- Education about addiction, family dynamics, relapse and aftercare.
- Techniques to improve family communication and resolve conflict.
- How to establish and maintain healthy boundaries.
- An introduction to self-help recovery groups.
- Mindfulness practices, which can help to reduce stress and promote calm.
- Opportunities to share experiences and discuss solutions.
Family Recovery Workshop Dates 2024/2025
