Free Addiction Assessment

Seeking help is the first and most important step you will take in your recovery journey. We understand that the admissions process can be a daunting time and that you will have lots of questions for us, so we aim to make this as easy and stress-free as possible.

The first step for most people who come through our doors is a free drug addiction assessment, a free alcohol addiction assessment, or both if needed. These initial, confidential consultations allow our team to better understand your treatment needs and gives you the chance to ask any questions you might have.

What Happens During The Assessment?

The assessment typically takes place over the phone and lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. We will talk in detail about your current situation, assess any mental health needs and help you figure out if inpatient treatment is needed and what options will be available to you.

  • We will collect basic information such as age, gender assigned at birth, location and what addictive substance(s) or behaviour(s) you are seeking help for.
  • We will seek to understand the severity of your addiction by asking how often you drink, consume drugs or engage in problematic behaviour. This is vital as it will allow us to understand whether or not services like residential detox may be necessary.
  • Dual diagnosis comes hand-in-hand with addiction, so we will ask whether you also suffer from depression, trauma, anxiety or other mental illnesses. Castle Craig has a multidisciplinary team of trained experts who have the right tools to assist you with these co-occurring conditions.
  • Moreover, some information about your history and personal story will be invaluable to our experts. For example, whether you’ve been to rehab before, are currently seeking therapeutic or psychiatric support, if you’re currently detoxing by yourself, etc.
  • We will discuss travel to Castle Craig and funding options, such as health insurance cover or private pay.

Throughout the assessment, it will be important for you to be as informative and open as you can be about the true extent of your addiction, as well as any physical and psychological symptoms you might be facing.

We understand this may be hard, but we’ll be with you every step of the way.

Our Promise to You

The call is confidential and you can trust us to handle your information sensitively – we will never contact you without prior acknowledgement. We will not judge you or your addiction, instead, you can be expected to be treated with care, respect, and compassion – know that you are in knowledgeable and confident hands.
