A Good Diet Reduces Cravings

Alcohol and drug abuse rob the body of important vitamins and minerals.

Eating a balanced diet rich in nutrients can help support recovery from addiction. Proper nutrition can help repair the damage that substance abuse has caused to the body and brain, and can also improve mood and energy levels. Additionally, focusing on nourishing the body can help to shift the focus away from the addictive substance and provide a sense of accomplishment and control.

In addiction treatment, it is common for individuals to have disrupted eating patterns and malnutrition due to their substance abuse.

At Castle Craig, our therapists work with patients to address any underlying issues that may have contributed to the development of the addiction, such as a history of disordered eating or trauma.
