World Class Addiction Treatment
Who is our Foundation Programme For?
Castle Craig’s foundation programme is for anyone ready to get help for addiction and is especially beneficial for those who require a medically supervised drug detox or alcohol detox, as well as intensive psychological therapy. When creating this programme, our addiction specialists acknowledged that each patient has unique needs, which is why treatment plans vary from person to person.
The residential treatment programme starts at five weeks which is the recommended minimum, and your stay can be extended up to 12 weeks. Our programme can be funded through private, medical insurance, or via NHS in rare cases. At the end of your treatment, your focal therapist will create a personalised continuing care plan and all patients who complete rehab can join our online continuing care programme for 24 weeks to facilitate a smooth transition back into everyday life.

How is the Programme Structured?
Castle Craig’s Foundation programme is structured around the 12-step therapy model, specifically guiding patients through the first six steps. This model helps patients confront their addiction through a series of steps beginning with the acknowledgement of their addiction, recognising a higher power that can give strength, examining past errors with the help of a sponsor, making amends for these mistakes, learning to live a new life with a new code of behaviour, and helping others who suffer from the same addictions or compulsions. This approach is designed to promote healing and recovery by instilling hope, building a supportive community, and fostering behavioural change.

What Does the Foundation Programme Involve
The programme lasts 5-6 weeks and provides a solid foundation for recovery. The focus of the programme is to take patients through the detox process, ensure they are physically stabilised and introduce them to our evidence-based therapies to help them overcome addiction once and for all. Patients can expect the programme to cover a range of specialist therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), trauma therapy, grief therapy, as well as complementary and expressive therapies like therapeutic art group, equine therapy, drumming therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
The programme adopts the first five steps of the 12 Steps in the Minnesota model, addressing issues like denial and acceptance, identifying needs for overcoming addiction, and helping patients make amends for their past actions.
