Involving the Family is an Important Part of Treatment

Involvement of family members in alcohol, drug & gambling addiction treatment is vital to successful recovery.

The more the family know about the addiction and the know-how to offer the right support, the better the outcome for the patient.

Treating Addiction Since 1988

Expert psychological therapies with relaxing, comfortable surroundings.

Our team knows the importance of family involvement of family members in alcohol, drug and behavioural addiction treatment and we involve the family all the way through treatment, often before admission.

The strength of friends, family and colleagues is a key factor in successful recovery, but the same network can simultaneously feel traumatised by the addiction and need support themselves.

The more the family knows about the addiction and the know-how to offer the right support, the better the outcome for the patient.

Our family therapy programme helps patients and families to connect and share their feelings of shame, hurt and anger and find a pathway through to hope and communication.

Re-Building Damaged Relationships for Swifter, Stronger Recovery

Our family therapy programme helps patients and families to connect and share their feelings of shame, hurt and anger. It helps them to communicate again and to rebuild their damaged relationships.

About Family Therapy

Family therapy at a residential rehab clinic is a crucial part of the treatment process for someone with an addiction to drugs or alcohol, and their family or spouse. This type of therapy encourages open communication and understanding in a safe environment with a therapist present. It is designed to help identify and address family dynamics and communication blockages, improve communication between family members, create communal coping mechanisms, and modify negative behaviours.

While family therapy is not a cure for addiction, it helps to build a stronger foundation of trust and support that will assist an addiction sufferer in their recovery journey. Additionally, family therapy helps the patient to better understand how their addiction has impacted their family and how to heal rifts and repair those relationships.

How Can Castle Craig Help?

How Do I Pay For Rehab?

One concern we sometimes hear from people is how they will fund their rehab treatment. The cost of rehab varies depending on what kind of accommodation you choose. You can pay for treatment at Castle Craig privately, or through medical insurance, and some people receive funding through the NHS.

How Long Is the Rehab Programme?

Residential rehab treatment starts at four weeks and can go up to 12+ weeks. Research shows us that the longer you stay in rehab and are part of the residential therapy programme, the longer the likelihood of continued abstinence and stable recovery.

Who Will I Speak to When I Call?

When you call you will reach our Help Centre team who will give you all the information you need to help you decide whether to choose treatment at Castle Craig. Once you have decided that you would like to have a free screening assessment you will be put in touch with our admissions case managers who will guide you through the admissions process.

What Happens at the End of My Treatment?

Castle Craig thoroughly prepares patients before departure by creating a personalised continuing care plan which is formulated following discussions with the medical and therapeutic team. We offer an online continuing care programme which runs for 24 weeks after leaving treatment, in order to ensure a smooth transition back into your everyday life. Patients leaving treatment automatically join our Recovery Club where they can stay connected via our annual reunion, events, online workshops and recovery newsletters.
